IB Diploma Programme

IB Diploma Programme of the International Baccalaureate Organization is a two-year programme meant for students of XI and XII (age group 16-19). The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) was founded in Switzerland in 1968 with the purpose of facilitating international mobility of students preparing for university. It is currently working with 1,717 schools in 122 countries. The challenging two year course enables students to learn more than facts. It encourages students to ask challenging questions and to develop intercultural understanding while maintaining a strong sense of their own identity and culture.

The IB syllabus is broad-based and has a very strong stress on application-based learning. It lays emphasis on inculcating the spirit of enquiry. It teaches you to teach yourself as opposed to being taught. This approach is what makes it very special, not only for those planning to study abroad, but also for those who define education as the creation of an independent thinking mind.

The IB programmes are recognized around the world and the curriculum, pedagogy and activities focus on international perspectives, making students global citizens in the true sense of the word. The curriculum contains six groups from which the students may choose as per their inclinations, talents and dreams. There is also a compulsory core component --Extended Essay (EE), Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Creativity Action Service (CAS) -- is compulsory and embodies the philosophy of the Diploma programme. At the end of the two-year programme students are assessed by the school as well as the IB examiners. Kindly refer to the curriculum hexagon to know the subjects available.

Students will study six subjects -three at Higher Level (HL) and three at Standard Level (SL). During the course of the programme the students will be provided Career Counselling and guidance for filling the application forms to various universities. The students will benefit immensely by studying challenging syllabi formulated and taught by specially trained teachers. Once a student is armed with an IB Diploma, there is virtually no looking back.
